UK Justice Minister visits Jersey

July 24, 2021

Lord  Wolfson QC, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice, visited Jersey from 22 to 23 July 2021. This was the first on-island visit from Lord Wolfson to one of the Crown Dependencies since he took post in December 2020. Lord Wolfson is a key contact and interlocutor for Jersey, with Ministerial responsibility for the Crown Dependencies in the UK Government.

Lord Wolfson’s visit included a tour of La Hougue Bie, a trip out on the Norman Le Brocq fishery patrol vessel, a tour of the vaccination centre at Fort Regent and a tour of St Helier port facilities. In addition, Lord Wolfson also held meetings with Chief Minister, Senator John Le Fondré, the Deputy Chief Minister, Senator Lyndon Farnham, and the Minister for External Relations and Financial Services, Senator Ian Gorst. The visit concluded with a lunch hosted by Jersey Finance.

The trip provided an excellent opportunity to introduce Lord Wolfson to the rich heritage, culture and business successes of Jersey. The trip also helped to secure a further 4000 doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine from the UK Government to support Jersey’s ongoing vaccination programme.
