External Relations Minister to visit UAE

November 13, 2015

The External Relations Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, will visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 14 to 18 November 2015.

The visit, which will cover Abu Dhabi and Dubai, is part of an ongoing programme of engagement with the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Senator Bailhache will meet Emirati Government Ministers and senior business representatives, building on the work undertaken during previous ministerial visits to the Emirates.

Jersey’s historic bedrock of financial services ties with the UAE has been broadened in recent years to include engagement in other sectors such as agriculture, culture and wildlife conservation.

Senator Bailhache said “Jersey and the UAE have enjoyed a successful partnership for many years, based on our core business of financial services. This partnership has now matured into wider cooperation, such as the joint working between our award-winning wildlife and conservation facilities. I look forward to using the opportunity of my forthcoming visit to strengthen these ties, thereby continuing to promote the long-term interests of the Island.”
